My name is Chao Li, a industrial designer that just graduated from University of Illinois. I am a strong conceptual thinkers with a passion for creating beautiful and intuitive physical products.
I see industrial design as the creation of a systematic solution to a problem consumers face. Throughout the projects in college I discover that I have to constantly recharge myself with knowledge from other field of study to realize my design solution. This inspired me to supplement my design skill with classes in engineering, Business, computer science and accounting. Cross disciplinary study has made me a versatile designer and more importantly an efficient learner.

Sketch concepts / 3d modelled the case shell of a laser guided screeder. Cooperate with engineers to find the most ergonomic, cost effective and repair ready structure of the LSL series laser screeder. Fabricating the prototypes out of sheet metal.
Glowpanda / UI designer

Glowpanda is a mobile shopping app that connects the user with products posted on social networks. I’m the art coordinator for glowpanda’s new IOS 7 interface. I was involved from the building of concepts, wire frame, to usability testing. My main duty is to design the APP graphic layout, icon design and usability testing.

Designed Farming products that make use of recalled dell computers parts used computers. I carried out field research to collect data and user feedback. Developed concepts with user data and component analysis from the engineering team. Built 3D solidworks model and physical prototyping.
AirFloat Inc
Sketched, rendered, and mocked-up parts for the control panel and Locking mechanism for its power tractor. The design is focus heavily on reducing manufacturing time, cost and structural integrity. Large amount of rapid prototyping was done to ensure functionality.
World Kitchen
Developing new line of products involving world kitchen Vision glass and GHCT technology for the Asian markets. I was involved in all processes from ideation, to 3D modelling, prototyping, revision and final presentation to client.

JCEntertainment LLC / Founder
I founded JC Entertainment in my sophomore year which operates K-On Karaoke on Campus. I and my partner spent a lot of effort pulling in the resources to realize our business plan. Operating the karaoke bar allows me to gain skills in employer management, costumer relation, advertising and accounting.
